I am not a franchise photographer like many other well-known studios and mall set-ups. Everyone is familiar with these - I have in the past been to a few. My photography is what is known as 'custom' photography, and what I mean by that is the individual unique concept of having a photographer with your sense of style, that you like, or have been recommended by, and having liaised with him or her about their photography (have that rapport) and know that you'd like this person to take your photographs. Ok, that's not entirely it, but being able to present a portfolio of photography that spells 'YOU'; your personality, your sense of style, the relaxed, unposed you, and making sure that you get the best out of your session.
I found a great website which goes into a lot more detail about what it is that photographers should provide to you and what to look out for. It's an informative (if a little exhaustive - but it will give you plenty to think about) have a read.
