Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I am a photographer specialising in newborn baby photography. The majority of my photosessions are held in my studio, but I also enjoy photographing sessions on location. Please stay a while and enjoy the posts, read upto date news, and if you like what you see and would like to know more about what I do, please get in touch, ask me anything, or book a photosession. I'd love to hear from you.

A 'flare' for photographs

Sorry couldn't resist that title to sum up this post. I took some photographs of my mother in the 'golden light' I like to call it, late in the afternoon when the sun is just beginning to set. I always aim to get some 'flare' in the photos that I am taking when the light is like this, I love a bit of flare in my photographs (a lot of people don't 'get it') but I like the extra addition! It actually harps back to the days when I used to get my film processed from the lab and they would put all these stickers on the relevant photos to reflect that having the flare in the pic was a grave error on my part and to make sure I don't make that 'mistake' again - I used to get bummed about that! But now I purposely add it, and so if you do get photographs with a certain flare in your proofing gallery please be rest assured that I know what I'm doing and its MEANT to be like that! LOL! Anyway now do you get the picture (?)...sorry enough with the duff puns!

Not impressed

The kid is never impressed when I get the camera out of the bag, his face almost contorts in a way that say's 'oh my god, what's up with that' he just looks at me and say's 'no pictures' in a sweet but lay off it kinda way. I can't help but feel a little dejected because being a photographer I just want to take photos...of...my...gorgeous...little...baby. I don't ever force the issue with him as that isn't the way to go about things and to a four year old boy having a lens pointed in his face is not exciting in slightest. I think he's only been accommodating (as in he instigates wanting to have his photo taken) ummm about twice in the whole entire time I've been photographing. If only he knew that this whole 'pictures' thing as he calls it is to document his growing-up stages and he will love me for it when he gets older and has to show his grandkids the resemblance to them when he was that age...or maybe he'll be sworn off photographs for life now LOL! Anyhoo, I guess I'll have to find myself another model whose willing to have a camera lens pointed at them and be happy about it!

The next generation

As my kid is nearer to starting school for the first time later on this year my thoughts often turn to 'what will his path lead him to?' The wonderment of youth; will he get on at school, make friends, enemies, be sociable, continue to strive for what he believes in, have principles, be confident...? The list goes on, I think all I can wish for that we as parents teach him as best as we can, be there when he needs us and more importantly continue to provide him with whatever he needs (within moderation!).

Food glorious food

My kid loves his food, I am not lying when I say this but from the moment he was born he fed very well and continues to do so up until now. I clearly remember the time when he was being fed solids at a few months old, I couldn't get the spoon in fast enough, as he was completely focussed on getting that next spoonful of food. I like the fact that he isn't fussy and will literally try anything once, that I think is rare sometimes, as I have many mother's whose children are so incredibly fussy with what they do and don't eat I do count myself lucky that up until now he has been adventurous with his food, I know this could change in later years, but for now I can at least say my cooking is good enough that he want's to eat it. Although I must admit I do a mean Roast dinner, I think I must take after my grandfather for that one, he was the King of Roast Dinners!

In yer face...mama

My kid turned four...FOUR...years old last Friday...OMG, where has that time gone, my precious ickle baby is well not so ickle anymore, he's a little man, that talks (alot), eats (alot) and wants...alot...he does make me laugh ALOT so when he's having a 'moment' alls forgiven when he say's something so unexpected it catches me off guard and I just can't help but laugh.
