Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I am a photographer specialising in newborn baby photography. The majority of my photosessions are held in my studio, but I also enjoy photographing sessions on location. Please stay a while and enjoy the posts, read upto date news, and if you like what you see and would like to know more about what I do, please get in touch, ask me anything, or book a photosession. I'd love to hear from you.

Tired

Boy, am I? Its been so hot these past few days its just completely drained me! I welcome the sun, but the heat...well, sometimes its too hot. Yes, I complain when its cold and then I complain when its hot, never happy! But I do welcome that when it is sunny I can venture outside with my camera and take photographs! The light in the evening is just perfect and I find that just being able to be out in the evening is a rarity, (as usually its either getting dark or its been raining or its too cold), after a day's work in a stuffy office it is nice to get out into the fresh air. I have a maternity session this evening after work which I'm looking forward to, so will post some photo's soon.

Babybump Session

I had a maternity session at the weekend, my first one, and it went really, really well. It was such a gorgeous day, so made use of getting outside in the warm weather, although the light was a little on the bright side we did manage to get a few good shots in. My client had the most perfect bump and only has three weeks to go (!), it will be her first child and she was just beaming with excitement for the impending birth. I have another maternity session tomorrow, so looking forward to that too.

Portrait Session

This time with a proper adult (!) no little baby's this week (unfortunately!)
I had the pleasure of photographing a lady who wanted some portraits of herself, she was so easy to photograph and took a ton of photos. I was really pleased with how they turned out and she was equally pleased with the outcome too.

Wedding Jitters!

I photographed a wedding on Saturday, my first one! The bride and the bridesmaids all looked gorgeous, and it was a lovely church wedding, followed by the traditional wedding reception at a local hall in the village.

If the bride thought she was nervous, she certainly wasn't showing it. I, on the other hand was very nervous (the night before!) wondering if all would be ok and thinking a hundred and one things about; would the weather be ok (the weather forecast predicted light showers throughout the day), would the rain hold off (it did!), would I get the 'right' photos, would the lighting be ok, etc, etc. But all things considered it went well, as I hoped it would do, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was her second marriage, and so the pressure was off in terms of the traditional posed family gathering/group shots, so didn't have to holler out to anyone to get in the frame etc, which I will have to do no doubt eventually. But the bride and groom wanted everyone to just enjoy the day (even the photographer!) so it was all very relaxed, I did get the normal posed shots with her children of course and both their parents, but overall the photographs taken were all a very relaxed and happy with a documented feel that I hope she will cherish.

Lovely Lily

I had the pleasure of photographing a gorgeous 8½ month old little girl called Lily. She was just such a smiley baby, and was really good throughout our entire photosession. Her parents were just so lovely and were a joy to photograph.

Newborn Session

I had the pleasure of photographing a 4 week old gorgeous little boy. He was so sweet and was just a gorgeous little bundle of fun to photograph. I also had a photo session with a 8 month old little girl, she just kept smiling throughout the whole shoot and she too was just utterly gorgeous and very well behaved. I will post photographs of her soon.

Moments

Today so far has been a relaxing one, it's no joy though being stuck behind a desk looking outside your window to see the sun shining down and not be in it - but I can't complain really. Just had an e-mail from the woman who I will be doing the wedding for on Saturday, I can't wait and she's obviously very anxious and excited about her forthcoming nuptials. Brings back memories of how I was in the run up in the week when I was getting married - I was just so excited and of course nervous about it all, but the actual day my nerves just went completely, which I thought was strange considering, but I just embraced it, and thought just completely enjoy the day, and I did - very much!

Better Days

Well, nearly coming to the end of another fulfilling week. It has been an interesting week, I had the photoshoot with a newborn and I loved every minute of it. For my first one I think it went exceptionally well considering that it rained all day, so it was quite a dimly lit environment, but it was all fine. The baby was just absolutely gorgeous, and was awake for the whole of the photoshoot, so I didn't get any real sleep shots in, but she was so well behaved - she was a joy to photograph. I can't wait to do another one, and I won't have to wait that long, I shall be doing another this coming week. I also have a wedding next weekend, so getting rather anxious about that, how it will all turn out, what the weather will be like (!) and how I cope with the pressure of it all...only time will tell.

Newbie for newborns

It has been quite the past few days; what with mum's house (no new progress I hasten to add - shame) but I have been inundated with offers of work in doing maternity and newborn sessions. It is my fault really as I offered my services! But I'm glad that people are being open for me to be able to capture something special - their bumps and their babies...speaking of which, I actually have tomorrow off of work - to do work (!) I have a photosession with a newborn little girl and I'm a little anxious, but really looking forward to doing a newborn session...wish me luck - I'll no doubt need it!

Weekend is here...

It's been quite a busy day today - my mother has viewings today at her house, but don't know what the outcome will be. Did a bit of gardening (yes, shock horror - I'm not green fingered at all) but thought I'd do my cents worth cutting back on a few plants, the hubby hacked at the apple tree (?!) but it needed a good sprucing. The kid was trying to help...I say trying (more like getting in the way of danger) but bless him, he was only trying to help (in his words). The sun was shining (as opposed to chucking it down - as the weatherpeople predicted) and at this moment thirsty as hell...so I'll close for now to go and quench my thirst.

TFI Friday!

Well, what can I say - its been a pretty dreary week this week (not the weather I hasten to add, apart from one day where it rained...) my mother still hasn't had any news in terms of a new buyer for her house - getting very frustrated and just plain bored with it all really. The highs and lows of the property market eh...but anyway, its just the 'wait and see' game and in these situations you have to remain positive, but it is very hard.

Anyway, another day - but at least it is a Friday today and that is some consolation, lets hope we have a good weekend? I have the next couple of Wednesday's off to do photo shoots of newborn babies, so I can't wait for that. Then from the 19th July until end of August every weekend more or less I will be busy, busy, busy with various photo shoots...

Underneath it all

Well this week didn't start off that well, we had a telephone call on Monday morning to say that my mother's chain has broken down (my mother is selling her home), and we were this close *pinching finger and thumb together* to completing the sale this week, but the bottom end of the chain has decided "nah, don't wanna move now" (?!) I mean you just don't mess around with things of this magnitude (and I take their point that if doesn't feel right fine, but DON'T buy the place you were intending to buy in the first place if you had any doubts!) so anyway, to cut a long story short my mother's house is having to go back on the market to enable hopefully a quick sale...

It has all been quite fraught to say the least, the fact that I'm taking the full brunt of the responsibility helping my mother out, so feel really stressed as its all out of my control. Buying houses and selling houses is not an easy process (as I'm sure most of you out there probably know) so why do some people have to be so blase about it - its a BIG commitment, but some people obviously can't make monumental decisions that they can't follow through...sorry having a real rant, but I'm sure you understand how I feel at this moment.

On the bright side (is there one) the sun is shining and hopefully that will pick my mood up (a bit!) I'm such a misog at the moment, that seriously I think the world and its mother are against me (I'm such a drama queen!) but I'm sure it'll pass soon (but it can't come soon enough...)

Babybump

Had a full-on weekend with friends and family round, on Saturday I had my beautiful pregnant friend (she is 8 months pregnant) come round with her gorgeous little girl for an impromptu photosession. My first babybump session, which was a little taster to how I would like my business to go forward.
My friend being so heavily pregnant felt that she didn't feel or look her best, but I personally think she looked glowing and gorgeous in her pregnant form, and to have a remembrance of your time being pregnant is definitely something to be captured forever. I had a plaster cast of my bump when I was pregnant with Luc and I love it, so having a photograph is the next best thing.
