Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I am a photographer specialising in newborn baby photography. The majority of my photosessions are held in my studio, but I also enjoy photographing sessions on location. Please stay a while and enjoy the posts, read upto date news, and if you like what you see and would like to know more about what I do, please get in touch, ask me anything, or book a photosession. I'd love to hear from you.

Between Darkness and Light

I had a couple of day's off of work, yesterday the hubby and I went to visit the mother-in-law at Cambridge Hospital, she was transferred there from our home town after suffering a major stroke. She had an operation mid-week to relieve the pressure and tumour from her brain, so we wasn't sure if she'd be co-operative when we were due to visit her, but she was very responsive despite what she's been through and it was nice to see that she was eating well and responding well to her treatment. Today the hubby and I went to do a bit of shopping, I did treat myself to a pair of shoes (!) I couldn't resist...they were comfy to boot, despite being quite stacked (I need the extra height!) It was a pleasant day all round, and I am looking forward to what the weekend will bring...

Photo Op

On Sunday I had the pleasure of having a photo session with a friend and her grandkids, as well as her two sons and two dogs (!) It was a really fun day out, we went to the park and I took some great shots of the kids in their state of play, that way they weren't focussed on the camera being aimed in their direction all of the time, and they just got to be natural, these are the types of photographs I love to capture. Even my son came along too, and he joined in the fun and I took some shots of him as he played with the rest of the kids and dogs! Although he wasn't too sure about one of the dog's, which was a Great Dane called Vinnie, who is only 6 months old, he was such a huge size that Luc wasn't quite sure what to make of him. But Vinnie is a bouncy great thing, due to his size, but he is such a sweet natured dog, the other dog is a Jackhuhua (Jack Russell/Chihuhua), so seeing two dogs of different stature together was quite amusing!

Big ol' Brown Eyes

This is my three year old son, Luc. He was the person that reignited my love of photography, I wanted to document the stages of his growth from when he was born. Initially it was a case of photographing him from a small P+S (point and shoot) but I still managed to get some wonderful shots of him and he has quite a few albums full of his baby stages - he'll thank me one day! Since Christmas 2007 however, when looking through the flickr website, there were so many photographers who were producing such awesome portraits, and it spurred me to take it one step further as a personal hobby to buy myself a DSLR and become a member of flickr, and the contacts I have made and seeing what people produce, has just been a constant source of inspiration for me, that I have felt like I have learnt a lot in the past few months alone. So, of course my son will make me continue to use my camera - although lately he's very relunctant to pose infront of the camera, so its quite a rarity, but on the odd occasions when he's happy to pose I'll be there capturing those moments.

That Friday Feeling!

Well another week has passed, and it has been somewhat a long, hard few days.

I have had quite a few enquiries to do portrait sessions, one enquiry through my website was to do a newborn session, which I am quite excited about! I'm slightly bewildered as to the fact that I've had a few requests to photograph people only on the fact that they've only seen photographs I've placed on my website, and not because I've had plenty of experience in this field - so I am flattered in some ways, but a bit anxious in other ways thinking 'but am I good enough?'. Time will tell...

Hello!

Well I should start by saying 'Hello' - I finally thought about putting up a blog to go alongside my new website www.shereebphotography.com (sorry, I can't help but do a bit of self promotion!) that I could, in the future, ramble on about any new subjects and the like, and therefore having my own blog is the basis in which I can do just that!
Firstly let me introduce myself. I am a 30 year old, full-time working, mother of one gorgeous little three year old boy called Luc, and a loving wife of one very gorgeous hubby, who has been so great with my new found hobby (and hopefully a professional role) as a photographer.

As far back as I can remember I have always had a love of photography. Photographs have always been a real importance to me, and ever since my son was born over three years ago now, my passion for it was ignited and I decided to take it one step further late last year (Christmas 2007) and bought myself a pro-DSLR, and the rest they say is history.

I have found a new lease of life in photography. I love being able to produce some lovely portraits of my son, which was the real motivation in purchasing my first DSLR, since then Flickr (www.flickr.com/photos/myvisioninyourworld) has been a huge inspiration to me, and from thereon in I have produced many shots (some good, some bad) but above all a constant learning curve. I thought very hard about getting a website produced to showcase my efforts so far, and it seems to be paying off, although it's very early day's yet, I hasten to add.

I'm just seeing where this path leads me to, and hopefully get to experience a lot more as I go on, but above all to enjoy the process as I go along. I started out on this adventure because of my true passion for photographs, and to document my family. I want others to enjoy what I produce for them because they can see that I take great care and effort into everything that I do.

So, take a walk with me and see where this journey takes us...
